Lawyer Josh Fraser
Josh was born and raised in his early years in Margaree, Nova Scotia, and spent much of his childhood in Baddeck. As a new junior lawyer, he has found himself travelling to us from his family home in Margaree Forks. As the son of a practicing lawyer, he has grown up with a predisposed understanding of the demands and complexities that come with the legal profession.
Josh graduated from Saint Mary’s University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing). He completed his Bachelors of Law (LL.B.) at the University of Sussex in Brighton, located on the southern coast of the England.
While at law school, Josh focused the bulk of his discretionary studies in the areas of commercial law. In 2023, Josh was the winner of the Mason Hayes Essay Award for the top final year essay at Sussex submitted in the areas of commercial law, employment law, competition law, corporate finance and insolvency law.
Josh returned to Cape Breton following completion of his LL.B., and completed a year long placement with EMM Law while challenging and completing Federal competency exams required to recognize foreign law degrees. He commenced his articles with EMM in 2024, then going on to join the firm as an associate in June 2025.
Josh currently lives at an ancestral home in Margaree Forks with his wife Erica and their daughter Maddy. He spends his time outside the office boating/sailing, golfing, reading, and snowboarding.
